Kindred Self Ambassador Kirsty King
Kirsty and I first met at Plant 4 Market in Bowden, she was my neighbour managing the stall next to me. From the very beginning we realised that we could never run out of topics to talk about, and this made the time at the market go extremely quickly chatting in-between serving our customers.
We both share a deep love for nature and animals and have the same initials 'KK' - true kindred spirits!
Kirsty has a successful side business walking dogs, and you can follow all the doggy antics on Instagram over at @kingsdogwalking.
One of the things I love the most about Kirsty (besides her kind heart) is her obvious passion for all things gut and poo related!! She truly lights up when the topic comes up in conversation. This is such an interesting area of health which still has much to be explored and understood. I look forward to following Kirsty's career, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes an area of specialisation for her.
Kirsty is in her final year of studying Naturopathy, and helps me out behind the scenes at Kindred Self and at market events - often awarded employee of the month!! Kirsty also shares her personal journey of living a balanced life at @reallifebalance on instagram.

Tell us a little about yourself - about you, what you do, what you are passionate about, what sparks joy, whatever you would like to share:
I'm a student, studying Naturopathy at the Endeavour College of Natural Health. I am passionate about all things health and wellness in particular gut health. I love sharing what I learn and look forward to finishing my degree so I can help people take control of their own health. Connecting with people sparks joy in me. It may be an open conversation over a cup of tea with a loved one or a spontaneous chat with the person sitting next to you on the plane. I love hearing everyone's story and learning from their journey so far.
Describe a typical day in your life...
I'm a morning person so as soon as any light shines through the window I'm awake! I like to start the day with meditation followed by apple cider vinegar in water and if I'm lucky enough a cuddle with my cat. If i'm not at uni, I'm walking dogs - a little side business I started when I moved from Sydney to Adelaide. Most days I have back to back dogs and walk from 7am to 4pm. Then its home to work on uni assessments and cook dinner. I also like to squeeze a yoga class if there is time.
What does being healthy mean to you?
Being healthy to me means looking after yourself so you can function at your best.
What are three things you can't live without!?
Family, friends and food!
What is your most favourite wellbeing tip that has been life changing for you?
Taking 5 -10 minutes to sit in the sun connecting to the earth. It helps me to stay grounded when life gets a little too much. Vitamin D is also beneficial for so many body systems including immune system so I try to do this every sunny day we get during winter.
What do you find most challenging when it comes to your health?
Saying No! This effects both my mental and physical health. I find it hard to say no to people so I often find myself taking on to much. I also have a sweet tooth so saying no to treats can also be difficult for me.

What was the main reason you chose to be a Kindred Self Ambassador?
I have used essential oils for stress and anxiety for a long time. I connected with Kyrie at the Plant 4 market and fell in love with her products and her way of thinking. I love the Kindred self blends and the way they are packaged to make it simple and easy to carry with you.
List all the ways you currently use essential oils...
Emotional support, personal products, cleaning products, to make a space 'feel' beautiful, as a perfume.
How have essential oils helped you in your life?
Essential oils have helped during periods of high stress. I use them during exam periods or when I'm struggling to sleep. They help take the edge off a little so I can deal with what ever is presenting at the time.

A nice hot bath with candles and a good book.

I add essential oils into my bath as well as magnesium flakes to help me to relax and unwind.
